The Intruder 50 is an all-tube 2-EL34 50W amplifier in a small-box head format, with an effects loop and a very transparent output level control that doesn't get thin or buzzy as you turn it down. This amplifier is very touch-sensitive, going from clean to crunch to singing leads by just adjusting the volume control on the guitar.  The amplifier features two internally-jumpered channels, which are independently voiced bright and dark, to provide a wide range of tones from any guitar, using single-coil or humbucking pickups.  It was designed specifically to capture those old plexi/aluminum panel tones at less than ear-shattering volumes.

The Intruder is available only as a small-box head.  Standard color combinations are black, purple, red, emerald green, fawn, and white with gold or white piping, with many other custom colors available.

Features include:

• All-tube signal path.  Preamp tubes are JJ/Tesla ECC83..  Output tubes are SED(Svetlana) EL34.   The rectifier uses massive 3-amp 1000V ultra-fast recovery diodes (Ultra-FREDs), for utmost reliability and a tight low end, without the RF noise interference "spikes" inherent in standard rectifiers.
  

• Front panel controls/connections: Input jack,  Volume 1 (bright), Volume 2 (dark), Bass, Mid, Treble, Presence, and Output Level.  The two channels are internally jumpered, allowing mixing of the two volume controls to provide a wide range of tones, enabling the amplifier to work well with any guitar, either single-coil or humbucker.  Exclusive Plexi/Ali front panel switch to reconfigure the preamp section to early "plexi" style for a full rich tone (great for warm clean tones) or the later aluminum, or "ali" style preamp, which is voiced brighter and tighter in the low end (best for distortion styles).

• Rear panel controls/connections: AC mains input, international voltage selector switch allowing operation at 100V/120V/200V/220V/230V/240V 50/60Hz,  impedance selector switch for 4, 8, or 16 ohm operation, two 1/4" speaker jacks, and one effects loop jack (TRS style insert jack).  Also includes a locking mil-style RV6L bias pot and three tip jacks for easy bias setting without having to remove the chassis from the cabinet.

• Solid, finger-jointed, void-free birch ply cabinets.  The head is 20" wide, 8 3/4" tall, and 9" deep.
  

• Hefty 16-gauge steel chassis, zinc-plated, yellow chromate conversion coated for durability, corrosion-resistance, and appearance.   Front and rear faceplates are gold anodized aluminum for a durable, classic look.

• All hand-wired "military style" turret board construction,  using chassis-mounted tube sockets, for ease of maintenance and reliability.  Built to last.

• Premium, tight-tolerance parts are used for lowest noise operation, including  2W carbon film and metal film resistors where appropriate for best tone and lowest noise,  5W metal oxide power resistors, 630V axial-leaded polypropylene film/foil capacitors,  and low-noise, sealed, 2W mil-style RV4 pots.

• Massive, custom-wound, high-interleave transformers, rated for over twice the maximum amplifier output power, allowing the amplifier to be run at full power continuously, without failures.

• Output power (at onset of clipping): 50W into 4, 8, or 16 ohms resistive load.

• Unique frequency-compensated output level control.  Unlike most master volumes, this control doesn't get thin or buzzy as you turn the volume down.  The tonal quality rivals that of our built-in attenuators, and is infinitely variable, allowing fine control of output level.
  

• Effects loop:  1/4" TRS (tip/ring/sleeve) insert style jack.   Nominal 0dBu level allows use of line-level effects for lowest noise levels.  The TRS insert jack allows use of a single TRS cable to connect the effects, instead of the two 1/4" cables normally required for an effects loop.
