The Corsair is a 50W high-gain amplifier featuring four 12AX7/ECC83
preamp
tubes and two EL34 output tubes in a "small-box" head
format.
This amplifier is a straight-ahead, no-frills, rock-and-roll
machine.
It features Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble, Presence, Depth, and
Master
Volume controls. There is a footswitchable gain boost accessable
via
the rear panel footswitch jack or a front panel toggle switch, which
takes the amplifier from "crunch"
to
"modern" gain for a smooth solo boost. There is also a selectable
volume boost with the gain boost if desired. The Presence and
Depth
controls enhance the high and low resonant frequencies of the speaker
cabinet being used. There is a series, tube-buffered effects
loop.

Available Coverings
Features include:
- All-tube signal path. Preamp tubes are ECC83/12AX7.
Output tubes are EL34. The rectifier uses massive 3-amp
1000V ultra-fast recovery diodes (Ultra-FREDs), for utmost reliability
and a tight low end, without the RF noise interference "spikes"
inherent
in standard rectifiers.
- Front panel controls/connections: Input jack, Gain, Bass,
Middle, Treble, Depth, Presence, and Master. There is also a
gain boost switch and indicator LED, which enables a front panel or
footswitchable gain and/or volume boost. A jeweled pilot lamp
completes
the look.
- Rear panel controls/connections: AC mains input, international
voltage selector switch allowing operation at
100V/120V/200V/220V/230V/240V 50/60Hz, impedance selector switch
for 4, 8, or 16 ohm operation, two 1/4" speaker jacks, a
gain-boost footswitch jack, along with a pot to set the amount of gain
boost, a switchable volume boost to accompany the gain boost, if
desired
There is also a line-level
(+4dBu) effects loop using a single 1/4" TRS jack (tip is
send,
ring
is return, and sleeve is ground), and a switch to bypass the
effects loop if desired.
- Solid, finger-jointed, void-free birch ply cabinets. The
head is 20" wide, 8 3/4" tall, and 9" deep.
- Hefty 16-gauge steel chassis, zinc-plated, yellow chromate
conversion coated for durability, corrosion-resistance, and appearance.
Front and rear faceplates are gold anodized aluminum for a
durable, classic look.
- All hand-wired "military style" turret board construction,
using chassis-mounted tube sockets, for ease of maintenance and
reliability. Built to last.
- Premium, tight-tolerance parts are used for lowest
noise operation, including 2W carbon film and metal film
resistors where appropriate for best tone and lowest noise, 5W
metal oxide power resistors, 630V axial-leaded polypropylene film/foil
and polyester capacitors, and low-noise, sealed, 2W mil-style RV4
pots.
- All custom colors are available at no extra charge. Red or
purple tolex are recommended for the most colorful tones, although
black
may work better for "darker" rock and roll styles and the blues (sorry,
no blue tolex available for this style of music).
