Andrew Synowiec
You may not have heard of Andrew Synowiec by name, but chances are
you've heard his guitar playing. Andrew is an LA Session Guitarist
whose playing can be heard all over the airwaves on shows like "The NFL" on Fox and the CBS hit drama "Without A Trace". His
incredibly diverse body of work ranges from recording Platinum-selling,
Grammy-winning albums for Latin music superstars Marc Anthony and
Chayanne to performing with cutting-edge indie artists A Fine Frenzy
and Bitter:Sweet to playing sold-out jazz clubs with Gordon Goodwin's
Big Phat Band.
He was twice honored with Down
Beat Magazine's Outstanding Performance Award. Andrew is endorsed by
Taylor Guitars, Aiken Amplification, Elixir Strings, and IK Multimedia.
Here are some short clips Andrew
recorded on his Aiken Sabre, along with his comments for each track
description. All clips were recorded dry,
straight into the board. A touch of reverb was added afterward
for ambience. The speaker cabinet was a Bogner Cube 1x12, loaded
with a

controls were set flat for all clips, i.e. straight up on all tone
controls and presence. Guitars were a Tom Anderson Classic
Strat and a PRS Custom 24. All clips are 44.1kHz 256kbit MP3

Joe King of The Mark Hodgson Blues Band
Joe King is a master blues artist (but not limited to blues - he plays rock, soul, blues, and jazz as well).
Here's a link to a few videos of Mighty Joe King in action at
Daytona in 2006 with his Nash strat and an Aiken Sabre head, showing the
bluesier side of the Sabre.
The Nash has Rio Grande Vintage Tallboys in neck, middle and a Rio

Pearl Alley Blues Band

The Pearl Alley Blues Band is based
in Santa Cruz, CA. Their music reminds me a lot of Bonnie Raitt.
This is a track recorded by guitarist Dave Crane for their new CD
"Pearl Alley". Dave is using a red Invader MKI 30W 2x12
combo loaded with Celestion G12H30 speakers. The rhythm track was
recorded using a '72 Gibson 335, and the solo was recorded using a '72
Gibson Les Paul Custom. Both were close-mic'd with a Shure SM57,
as well as an Audio Technica 4030 set about 2 feet back, through a
Universal Audio 2108 mic preamp and a Universal Audio 1176 compressor.

The
Swell

If you've ever wondered what the Beach
Boys would sound like had they been born a generation later, this
is it! Complex, multi-part vocal harmonies (very Beatle-esque,
with some Queen influences as well), combined with catchy
tunes and very tasty guitar playing by Matt McCloskey (lead vocalist
and guitarist on all tracks). The entire album was recorded using
Matt's 18W Invader 1x12 combo.
In Matt's own words, this is how the album tracks were recorded: "The
guitar was a Tom Anderson Classic with hum/single/hum configuration.
The overdriven guitars were all the bridge pickup. Clean tones (on
track 1 - Someday I'll Find It) were done with my Suhr Classic in
bridge position single coil. I went straight to the amp with a George
L's cable. Clean was in Plexi mode, no attenuation, volume 1 at about 9
oclock. Overdriven rhythms were done in Ali mode with both volumes at
about noon. Leads were in Ali mode with volume 1 at about 2-3 o'clock,
volume 2 at around 11 o'clock. The single Greenback was mic'd with an
SM57, on the cone slightly off center. Run through an Avalon M5 mic
pre, into Digital Performer on a Mac. Leads and clean tones use a touch
of digital room reverb, rhythms are dry."
